PESHAWAR, July 10: The political administration of North Waziristan Agency has claimed to have effected a ceasefire between two warring tribes of the agency, says a handout.

The administration had been sending several representative Jirgas comprising Ulema/Tulba for the last few days to effect a ceasefire between the Darpa Khel Daurs and Tabbiwal Wazirs who had been locked in a dispute over possession of land.

The Jirga members, however, could not succeed in stopping fighting between the rival tribes.

The political authorities rushed Touchi Scouts contingents to the area where the warring tribes were engaged in fierce fighting.

The scouts first warned the rival groups through loudspeakers to halt firing. However, the tribes did not heed.
