GUJAR KHAN, July 8: The bodies of the Yorkshire arson attack victims were laid to rest at Mal Awan Village, some seven kilometres from here, on Monday afternoon.
The bodies of the seven victims arrived at the Islamabad airport on Monday morning.
The victims, all members of a Pakistani family, were burnt to death in Broor Bin area of Yorkshire on May 11 this year, after some unidentified persons, also belonging to Pakistani community, set their house on fire.
Aziz Chishti, the family head, accompanied the bodies to his native village, where their collective Namaz-i-Jinaza was offered. It was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life.
The victims were Attiqur Rehman, Ms Rab Nawaz, daughter of Aziz Chishti, and her five daughters — Tayaba, Rabia, Attiqa, Aneeta and a one-month-old baby girl.
According to the family sources, the delay in sending the bodies to Pakistan occurred due to the investigations being carried out in the United Kingdom.
They said at least three suspects had been held by the British police in connection with the incident, but their names were being withheld.
