GUJRAT, July 8: Three persons, including a former councillor, were shot dead in separate incidents in and around the city.
Former councillor Haji Aslam was standing outside a shop in Kot Khaga, Mungowal, when his rival, Mazhar Iqbal, along with accomplices appeared and opened fire on him. Aslam died on the spot.
Abdul Hafeez shot dead his wife, Shahnaz, over a domestic dispute in Gheghian, Janda.
Two brothers, Aslam and Karim, were intercepted by some dacoits in Dinga. On resistance, the bandits opened fire, killing Aslam instantly and injuring Karim.
Meanwhile, one Bashir was stabbed and injured by three dacoits in Kohli, Kotla Arab Ali Khan.
ARRESTED: Kharian police claim having arrested four dacoits on Monday.
Those arrested are Shaukat, Riaz, Amir and Wasif.
These dacoits had deprived an armyman, Mansha, of Rs1,500 in cash and jewellery near Bidar Majran.
LOOTED: Four dacoits looted a house in Chak Sada on Sunday night.
The dacoits entered the house of Inayat and fled after collecting Rs7,000 in cash and gold ornaments.
