BAHAWALPUR, July 8: A man on Monday shot dead his former wife and her six-year-old daughter at Basti Baman near Qatal-Amara Morr.

Farooq had married to Nasreen some 15 years ago. He had five children from her. A few months ago, the deceased had sought divorce from her husband through a family court. On Monday, Farooq came to the house of her former wife and sprayed a volley of bullets on the inmates. As a result, Nasreen and her daughter died instantly while her sister-in-law Sajida sustained bullet wounds.

Neighbours informed the police who reached there and arrested the accused after a brief chase from nearby maize fields.

According to Cantonment police, the deceased’s father said that Farooq was an addict and used to torture his daughter.
