PESHAWAR, July 8: A storm followed by heavy rain caused damage to power distribution system in many parts of district Swabi, Malakand and the adjacent areas on Sunday night.

A press release issued by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) said that power supply remained suspended for many hours in various localities of district Swabi when the storm, followed by heavy rain, hit the areas. Electricity was also suspended to Mansehra, Swat.

The press release said that the Pesco staff rushed to the affected areas to remove the fault. However, the electricity was restored in some areas from alternative transmission lines.

The press release said that the company did not announce loadshedding in district Bonair and the power has been disconnected due to overload as load management had been started to meet the demand of the consumers in the area. Initially, Pesco has started load management for 45 minutes to avoid prolong power shutdowns in the area.
