LARKANA, July 8: The Hesco authorities have failed to restore the power supply to at least 60 villages in Ratodero sub-division, which had been cut off after a thunderstorm about ten days back.
Ghaus Bakhsh Chandio, Sanaullah Abro (Nazim), and Naib Nazim of union council Warisdino Mashi told this correspondent on Monday that the electricity poles had not only fallen but had broken apart.
This correspondent saw snapped wires lying in the paddy fields and on roads in the area.
Some of the villages which have been without power are Kodrani, Bossan, Warisdino Mashi, Kamal Khan Chandio, Sono Brohi, Wasayo Bhutto, Sanhra Mashi, Gulbahar Babbar, Saindad Junijo, Badaruddain Khoso, Mevo Ghanghro, Paviro, Roshal Khan Dahani, and Rahib Bozdar.
The elected representatives told this scribe in the Wada Bossan village, some 55 kms off here, on Monday that Hesco officials were turning a deaf ear towards their repeated complaints for the restoration of the power supply.
The power breakdown has also severely affected the communication system of the police as their wireless system can not work without electricity.
The SDO, Hesco, Ratodero sub-division, told this correspondent that only 40 villages had been affected by the power breakdown, and added that the power supply would be restored by Friday.
