KARACHI, July 8: Several parts of the city were continuously being supplied stinking water for the last couple of weeks, resulting in various gastro-intestinal diseases among residents of the affected localities.

The worst-affected areas include Pak Colony, Rexer Lane, parts of Garden East, Britto Road, Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s Essa Colony, Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s blocks 13-D/2 and 11 and almost entire Napier Quarters area, particularly those residing near Sarafa Galli.

Residents said although they had lodged numerous complaints with the concerned officials of the KWSB, no measures had, so far, been taken to help resolve the lingering issue.

Residents of Pak Colony and Rexer Lane complained that the number of people of their localities, particularly, children and elderly persons, have already fallen victim to stinking water which was being supplied to their localities for the past one month.

They demanded of the senior officials of the City government and the KWSB to direct the concerned officials to expeditiously remove the fault responsible for stinking and unhygienic water, or else some serious abdomen diseases will spread in their localities in epidemic form.

Similarly, residents of Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s blocks 11 and 13- D/2 regretted that they were continuously being supplied muddy water for the past one week but all their complaints in this connection have gone in vain.

People residing in Serena Apartment building, situated near Britto Road, complained that although they have brought the issue of contaminated water to the notice of the KWSB’s concerned officials, they have not removed the cause of contaminated water.
