KARACHI, July 8: Seven ships including those whose arrivals were delayed are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Iwato, Trade Selene, Ernst Rickmers to unload and load containers and Fu Kang Shan to offload and load general cargo were berthed after the sailing of six.
The ships, which departed included Hyundai Stride, Starlight River, Global Progress, Mar Challenger, Rojarek Naree and Emirate of Dubai, while Ernst Rickmers, Kota Wijaya, Iwato and Trade Selene are due to sail out on Tuesday.
Berthing activity at the oil piers was nil as no tankers was berthed, while it fell to 42 per cent on dry wharves.
Owing to delay in the arrivals of oil tankers and no activity at the oil piers, the total tonnage fell to a record low level of 17,499 tons as not a single ton of liquid tonnage was handled.
The export tonnage fell to 5,742 tons including 196 tons of rice and the dry import cargo totalled 11,757 tons.
The following ships are due on Tuesday: Swat, APL Diamond, MOL Sincerity, PONL Everest, to unload and load containers, Paros, with palm oil, Karine, with steel pipe, L.M.Z. Evina, with 60,500 tons of crude oil.
KARACHI, July 8: A ship, Chem Road Mega, carrying edible oil was allotted berth at Marginal Wharf during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Monday.
Meanwhile, another ship carrying containers also arrived at the outer anchorage.
Two ships, Chem Road Mega and Axion-I were at the berths discharging edible oil and general cargo respectively.
Chem Road Mega sailed to sea on Saturday while Axion-I was expected to depart on Monday.
The port handled some 9,756 tons of cargo entirely of imports. The cargo included 4,141 tons of general cargo and 5,525 tons of edible oil.
