BAHAWALPUR, July 7: The local Islamia University admission committee has recommended some amendments to the rules for admission to various disciplines.
The recommendations were made at a meeting held under the chair of Faculty of Islamic Learning Dean Prof Dr Abdul Rashid Rehmat on Saturday.
The committee recommended the fee for admission to MBA on self-assessment basis should be reduced to Rs80,000 from Rs100,000.
For admission to MA history and Pakistan Studies, it suggested the precondition of passing history in BA examination should be waived off.
The committee also recommended that for admission to MA Arabic or Persian, the optional subject in BA should be replaced with any additional subject of 100 marks.
It also proposed the students, who qualified Fazil, Munshi Fazil and Dars-i-Nizami, should be given admissions to MA in their respective disciplines.
CALAMITY-HIT: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool has declared Cholistan a calamity-hit area.
This was stated by Cholistan Development Authority Managing Director and Vice-Chairman Maj-Gen Abdul Razzaq (retired) while conducting land allotment draws in Lal Sohanra, some 30 miles from here, on Saturday.
He said 3,750 acres would be allotted among 300 Cholistanis of 19 localities.
He said special grants and remission in loans and taxes would be offered to the Cholistanis. The Punjab government would also distribute about 30,000 tonnes of wheat among the citizens.
Cholistan has reportedly been under drought for the past four years. The desert received rains only last week.
