KHAIRPUR, Oct 7: In infighting between two groups of Ulro tribesmen, three people including two girls were killed and three women were injured on late Saturday in Ulra Jagira village, near Piryaloi, Kingri Taluka.

Armed tribesmen barged into the house of Ghulam Hyder Ulro and opened fire killing him and two of his granddaughters — Mariam (5) and Fatima (3) — on the spot. Three women were also injured in the firing.

All the injured have been admitted at the Civil Hospital Sukkur.

It may be mentioned here that the two groups of Ulro tribesmen have been fighting since a year.

BRIDGE ENDANGERED: The bridge of Thari Mirwah Taluka which links more than 500 villages to one another has become dangerously weak and might collapse anytime.

The bridge was constructed during the rule of the Mirs and has never been repaired by the authorities concerned.

Even though the bridge is only 12-ft wide but heavy vehicles including trucks and tractors pass over it as a result of which it has become weak and one side of it is in a terrible state.

PROTEST: A large number of residents belonging to 30 villages in Kandiyaro Taluka held a demonstration for the second consecutive day in front of the media centre on Sunday against the long power breakdowns in their areas.

The protestors told newsmen that loadshedding by Hesco officials continued everyday for anything between eight to 10 hours.

They said that life had become miserable for the villagers.

They demanded that the loadshedding be ended immediately.
