HYDERABAD, July 2: A large number of fishermen, with their family members, here on Tuesday staged a demonstration near Ghulam Muhammad Barrage, on the bank of Indus river, and a three-hour sit-in against the ban on fishing.

The ban has been imposed by the director of fisheries.

They raised slogans against the fisheries department and demanded lifting of the ban as this was their only source of income.

PUNISHMENT: The Additional Inspector General, Hyderabad Region, Abdur Rauf Yousufzai, here on Tuesday ordered the compulsory retirement of an accountant, Bashir Ahmed Mirani, on the charge of corruption.

He also imposed a fine of Rs1,000 on an inspector, Muhammad Ayub Durrani, in-charge traffic police, Hyderabad, for mismanagement.

REWARD: The SHO of Makki Shah police station, Amir Jafri, was given a cash award of Rs2,000 with commendation certificate class-I for his performance in a case of Hudood Ordinance.

The SHO had, in a hot pursuit, arrested an accused, Eijaz Ali Daudpoto, and recovered the car used in the offence in which one person, Sadiq Ali, was killed.
