PSO too good for rivals

KARACHI, July 1: PSO broke the domination of Candyland in weekend duplicate Bridge at Aslam Bridge Hall by winning all the five matches to register easy victories, says a press release of Karachi Bridge Association (KBA) issued Monday.

Candyland was dominating the event for the last few weeks but PSO emerged as a winner having a winning - draw in the opener against Mazhar 15-15, they out played Shipyard 25-03, the Printer 25-04, and Amin 25-03, then registered 22-08 against Mahmood to win with a tally of 112 Victory points. Pervaiz Mirza Mirza’s masterly handling of cards brought glories while Shakeel Chandna, Navaid Anjum, Baber gave him full support.

Mahmood 1V comprising Mahmood Naqvi, Dr Mohammad Ilyas, Nasir and Iqbal Haider first defeated on-form Candyland 17-13, then defeated Fantastic 25-5, Amin 17-13, collected 21-9 from Attackers only to lose narrowly last round match to PSO.

Candyland finished third with a score of 86 Victory Points, winning four matches and losing one to Mahmood 1V opener. They won next four from Akbar 17-13, MGS 21-9, Mazhar 17-13 and Ace 18-12 Victory Points.

Earleir in the Pairs Contest, thirty -eight pairs were placed in two houses. In the senior group, Mazhar - Shoaib topped with a score of 59.57% followed by Pervaiz Mirza - Tariq Rasheed Khan 56. 59% and Ziaullah- Khalid 56.42 percent.

In other house, veteran pair of Chaudhry Ahmed Din- Azmatullah out pointed their opponents winning by a score of 59. 46%. Zahoor - Qasim were placed second with score of 56. 59 percent.—PPI
