KARACHI, July 1: Eighteen vehicles — eight cars and ten motorbikes — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Monday, police said.

Five cars were hijacked in SITE, Bahadurabad, Ferozabad, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Two others were stolen in Clifton and one in Bahadurabad.

Bandits took away six motorcycles at gunpoint in Landhi, SITE, Orangi Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Surjani Town, Shershah and Gulbahar. Four others were stolen in Gulbahar, Kalri, Aziz Bhatti and Azizabad.

Police claimed to having recovered a stolen car (PG-3880) and five motorbikes (OK-7120, SKD-9737, KCY-4220, KAV-3099 and KAM- 428).

ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed at various places in the metropolis on Monday.

Police said that two bandits entered a shop of Abdul Ghani in the limits of Frere police station, snatched cash at gunpoint and fled.

Niaz reported at the Samanabad police station that three bandits intercepted him and looted him of cash, jewellery and belongings.

Murad Khan reported to the police that four bandits snatched cash from the cashier of a his fuel station in the Ferozabad police limits and escaped.

DROWN: The bodies of two men, believed to have drowned, were found afloat near Keamari and Fisheries.

Both the bodies were sent to a hospital for autopsy where their identities still could not be established. The police have shifted the bodies to Edhi’s morgue for identification.
