KARACHI, July 1: The under-construction buildings of two mono-technic institutes and intermediate colleges in the city have almost been completed and the education department of the city government is planning to start academic activities in them from the next academic year.

The construction of buildings of two mono-technic institutes in Baldia Town and Korangi has almost been completed and the institutes are ready for starting at least one-year diploma programme in information technology.

Two other buildings of intermediate colleges in Keamari and North Karachi are also in the last stages of completion and would be ready for admitting students from the start of next academic session.

“For the technical institutes, faculty would be provided by relocating teachers from other technical institutions whereas computers and other prerequisites would be provided by education department of the city government,” an official of the city government’s education department said.

Admissions to these newly established technical institutions would be given on a self-finance basis, the official added.

During the first-year, admissions to intermediate first-year Arts, Science and Commerce would be given and later the colleges would be expanded to other groups and degree courses.—PPI
