DADU, June 30: As many as 8,000 candidates appeared in the written test, held in the police line here on Sunday, for 30 posts of constable in the police department in Dadu district.
About 10,000 youths had submitted applications out of which 8,000 were selected for appearing in the test.
Only 130 of the candidates passed the written test and their physical and medical tests were continuing till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, a large number of educated special persons from different towns of the Dadu district staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday to protest against disallowing them to appear in the test for police recruitment.
They were led by Syed Nawab Ali Shah, Noor Mohammad Panhwar and Dost Ali.
Talking to newsmen at the press club, Mr Shah said he was a graduate and had applied in the police department for recruitment along with other disabled of the district.
He regretted that the officials concerned did not allow them to appear in the written test, held in Dadu on Sunday, for the posts of constables.
Mr Panhwar said they were told by the police officers that there was no vacancy available on the disable quota.
He reminded that previously, many disabled people were appointed as constables.
INJURED: Five passengers were injured when a Suzuki (ABJ-474) overturned and fell into a ditch on the Indus Highway near Sann town on Sunday.
Three of the injured, Abdul Razzaq, Ejaz Ahmad and Shamsuddin, were admitted to health centre, Sann, in critical condition.
ARMS RECOVERED: On a tip off, the Budhapur police raided at an old house in Unnarpur Forest and after digging the ground up to five feet, seized one kalashnikov, one LMG, two shotguns, two TT pistols, one double barrel gun, one country-made pistol, 18 cartridges and 20 bullets.
The police registered an FIR under section 25 of the Police Act.
SNAKE-BITE: A 40-year-old woman, Rahmat Bibi, died after she was bitten by a snake near Karachi Wah in Kotri taluka on Sunday.
