QUETTA, June 26: Balochistan government is constituting a committee to find a solution to the situation in Dera Bugti after deployment of forces there, Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal told a delegation of political parties, led by Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai, who called on him on Wednesday.

The delegation, comprising provincial leaders of different political parties, discussed the heavy deployment of forces in Sui and Dera Bugti and siege of Nawab Akbar Bugti’s residence.

It was informed that the law and order situation had deteriorated and sensitive gas installations and pipeline was continuously under attack, causing huge losses.

Gas supply was also affected due to rocket attacks on the installations, so the government sent forces in the area for the protection of gas fields and installations, the governor said.

He said that though the matter was of protection of gas installations, on the suggestion of some people the government was constituting a committee for reviewing the affairs of Sui and Dera Bugti. He said it would be a representative committee.

Mengal said the government was fulfilling its responsibilities for resolving the issue and the other party should ensure law and order in the area and protection of gas installations and pipelines.

JWP: The government does not seem to be doing anything positive to defuse the Dera Bugti crisis and the increasing tension in the tribal area.

This statement was made by Amanullah Kanrani, Central Information Secretary of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), while speaking at a new conference here on Wednesday.

Party leaders Sohail Rajput Advocate and Khuda Bukhsh Lango were also present on the occasion.

He said that its been over three weeks now that the Dera Bugti township and residence of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, were still under siege. The FC personnel and armed Bugti and other tribes were sitting face to face in the area.

He said that the FC men have blocked all routes linking Dera Bugti causing difficulties.

He said that the federal government was increasing forces in Dera Bugti and Sui gas field area without consulting the district Nazim Mir Zulfiqar Ali Bugti.

Kanrani said that the District Nazim has written a latter to the concerned authorities asking for the withdrawal of militiamen from the area.

He said several dozen check posts, pickets and camps have been established in and around Dera Bugti. He added that private bus service has also been suspended, which has resulted in shortage of consumer supplies.

The JWP leader claimed that four tanks, canons, and regular army personnel have been deployed in Sui gas field. He said that international media and human rights organizations should take notice of the seriousness of the situation.

He said that siege of Nawab Bugti’s residence has created unrest among the tribesmen and several thousands Bugti and other tribesmen have arrived in Dera Bugti in support of Nawab Bugti.

He confirmed Sardar Sher Ali Mazari also had a meeting with Nawab Bugti in this connection.

Kanrani demanded that all FC troops be withdrawn immediately from the area, and negotiations should be initiated for the resolution of the conflict.
