KARACHI: Three men killed

KARACHI, Nov 1: A young man was found shot dead in Orangi Town on Thursday.

The police said that the body of the young man, identified as Saleem Lodhi, aged 30, was found at a garbage dump in Mominabad, Orangi Town, by the area people. Residents informed the police of it.

The police said that the young man, who was an activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement and resident of Liaquatabad, had gone to visit his uncle’s house in Orangi Town a few days back. He was kidnapped outside his uncle’s house by several unknown men who came in a car.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem where a medicolegal officer said that the young man received several bullets, and confirmed the presence of torture marks on the body.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A young man died when he was caught between two minibuses travelling at a fast speed on M. A. Jinnah Road on Thursday.

The police said that Mohammed Asad, aged 35, was travelling on motorcycle through M. A. Jinnah Road towards Tower, when he was crushed between two minibuses of route (G-7).

Sources at JPMC said that the accident victim’s Karachi address was traced through a phone call which was made on a Lahore number found in his pocket. Later, his brother-in-law was traced by doctors, who said that Asad resided in Lahore and arrived in the city on Thursday morning. After leaving his family in the house of his brother-in-law and having breakfast there, he borrowed the motorcycle and went to Tower in connection with some work.

The police claimed to have arrested one of the drivers and impounded the minibuses. The other driver escaped.

KILLED: Two men were stabbed to death and several others injured in a clash between two groups of labourers in Bin Qasim on Thursday.

Sources at the JPMC said that two men were brought to the hospital. Doctors pronounced one of them dead on arrival and the other died in the hospital.

CARJACKING: Eight vehicles — four cars and an equal number of motorcycles — were hijacked in the city on Thursday, the police said.

The cars were hijacked in Azizabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Korangi, and Nazimabad. The motorcycles were hijacked in Clifton (two), Korangi Industrial Area, and Nazimabad.

ROBBERIES: Four robberies were committed in the city on Thursday, the police said.

Bandits barged into the house of Yaseen on Khayaban-i-Badar in Defence Housing Authority, held the family as hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.

Robbers intercepted a truck in TPX area, offloaded cans of chemicals from it and loaded the cans on their truck and drove away.
