KARACHI, June 24: The Customs authorities on Monday arrested a Pakistani and three foreigners, including a Chinese woman, for their alleged involvement in smuggling of contraband drugs following recovery of more than 5kgs of heroin powder from them at Karachi airport.

According to the Customs officials, the Customs Drugs Enforcement Cell intercepted Bashiruz Zaman, a local citizen, who was about to leave for Kuwait via PIA flight PK-215. A search of his luggage led to recovery of 1,900 grams of heroin powder.

A Chinese woman, Baoerhan Maihebubai, leaving for Katmandu via Doha by Qatar Airways flight QR-331, was intercepted and the customs searched her baggage which led to recovery of 2.25kg heroin powder.

Two Nepali passengers, Budha Man Gurung and Dipak Gurung, leaving for Katmandu via Dhaka by Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-020, were intercepted. Radiological tests revealed heroin-filled capsules in their body cavities.
