KARACHI, June 24: After a gap of at least 7 months, the Karachi University, on Monday, announced the results of BA Part- II (Regular and External) Annual Examinations 2001, with a pass percentage of 50.48.
The top three positions went to female students of three colleges that include two government colleges. A student of Mehran Degree Girls College, Afifa Qamar, seat no 24564, clinched the first position in the merit list.
Second and third positions went to the students of Govt St Joseph’s College for Women and Govt Khursheed Girls College — Huma Sabir, seat no 26813 and Summaya Yasin, seat no 28035, respectively.
According to the KU examination department, a total of 15,399 students were registered for the examinations which commenced in November last. In all, 14,849 candidates appeared in the exams, out of which 1,023 were placed in the First Division, while 5,390 passed the exams in Second Division and another 1,083 got Third Division.
Results of about 160 candidates were withheld for want of fine, enrolment, particulars or on account of using unfair means and unauthorized change of subjects.
Marks sheets of the examinations, which have been finalized at the examination section this year, are being delivered to the colleges along with the results, a KU official said.
