Seven labourers faint in heat

VEHARI, June 23: At least seven labourers fainted on Sunday in different parts of the district as the mercury shot up to 47 degrees Celsius.

Akram, Muhammad Bukhsh, Ghafoor, Ali Ahmed, Allah Rakha, Piran Ditta and Yasin belonged to Jala Jeem, Pirmurad, Chak 5/WB and Garahmorr areas. They were rushed to nearby clinics for treatment.

Roads wore deserted look and most of the people preferred to stay indoors.

When this correspondent visited the DHQ Hospital, a majority of patients complained that authorities concerned did not install aircoolers to save them to the vagaries of weather.
