KARACHI, June 23: An unmarried young man committed suicide in his home in Mehmoodabad on Sunday.

The police said that Om Parkash, aged 20, hanged himself from the ceiling in his house in Chanesar Goth, Mehmoodabad.

The police said that they found a suicide note, written by Om Parkash, in the room where the young man committed suicide, saying that no one was responsible for his death. He lived alone in the house.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.

A young girl who had consumed poison in her home in Rizvia Society on June 21, died in a hospital on Sunday.

The police said that Sana, aged 21, had consumed poison in her home after an argument with her parents.

She was admitted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she died.

DROWNED: Two young men drowned in the sea off Clifton beach on Sunday evening.

The police said that young men from Lines Area went to the beach near Seaview from Lines Area. Two of the young men went into the sea for swimming. Strong currents swept them away.

Life guards were trying to recover the bodies of the two young men when this report was filed.

Edhi sources gave the names of the victims as Kashif, aged 25, and Irfan, aged 23, both residents of Lines Area.

ROAD ACCIDENTS: Reckless driving claimed four lives in the city on Saturday and Sunday.

Two young men died in a road accident in Darakhshan on Sunday.

The police said that two young men, riding on a motorcycle, were knocked down by a speeding minibus of route X-3 (JE-0706) on Khayaban-i-Ittehad in Defence.

They were rushed to the JPMC, where they died. One of them was identified as Mohammed Rafiq Shah, aged 35.

The police claimed to have arrested the bus driver.

A vagabond died in a road accident on Mauripur Road.

The police said that Hasil, aged 50, a vagabond, was run over by an unidentified vehicle on the main Hawkesbay Road in Mauripur. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A young man died and another was injured when a speeding water tanker knocked them down in New Karachi Industrial Area on late Saturday night.

The police said that Sohail, aged 21, and Ziauddin, aged 25, were riding on a motorcycle (DU-8349) in sector 12-D in New Karachi Industrial Area when a speeding water tanker (JB-5196), coming from the wrong side of the road, knocked them down. In his bid to escape, the tanker driver hit the two young men riding on the motorcycle.

Sohail died on the spot. Kashif was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, from where he was referred to the JPMC.

The young men worked in a hosiery factory and were going to an eating-house for an early breakfast.

CARJACKING: Eighteen vehicles — five cars and 13 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

One car was hijacked. Four others were stolen.

Eight motorcycles were hijacked. Five others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered three cars and five motorcycles.

ELECTROCUTED: A 13-year-old boy died of electrocution in SITE on Saturday night.

The police said that Rasheedullah had gone out of his house in Zia Colony, SITE, to buy bread. When he was standing outside the shop, a live electric wire fell on him. He died on the spot. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
