KABUL, June 22: Afghanistan’s former interior minister Yunus Qanooni was made special adviser on national security on Saturday even as he accepted the post of education minister in President Hamid Karzai’s new cabinet, an official said.
“Mr Qanooni is the adviser for national security as well as education minister,” the newly-installed president’s former secretary Yusuf Nuristani said.
Nuristani, who was himself named environment and irrigation minister, also said Mirwais Sadeq, son of the powerful western governor of Herat Ismael Khan, had been made aviation minister.—AFP
