HARIPUR, June 22: The provincial Local Councils’ Board (LCB) has made all the development schemes - in progress or to be initiated - subject to the approval of the district council, official sources informed Dawn on Saturday.
The opposition councillors in a letter to the LCB had objected to the violation of rules in allocation of funds by the district government.
In a letter to the district government, the board asked the Nazim to place all the schemes before the council for its approval as envisaged in the Local Government Ordinance 2001.
The LCB deputy secretary, in the letter, said that after the promulgation of the ordinance, every project under the annual development programme or any other scheme was required to be approved by the council. The opposition members had accused the Nazim of favouritism.
