DHAKA, June 20: Bangladesh said on Thursday it had presented neighbouring India a list of 20 “terrorists” it wanted handed over for trial.
Foreign Minister Morshed Khan refused to give more details on who the suspects were but said he had raised the issue earlier this week in New Delhi with his counterpart Jaswant Singh.
Khan said he told Singh: “We know where these terrorists are staying in India and surely their security people also know about their whereabouts.”
He said the issue was an impediment to ties between the countries but that his visit had strengthened bilateral relations.
“I hope my visit to India has opened a new chapter of bilateral relations,” said Khan, who also visited Pakistan amid a military standoff between New Delhi and Islamabad.—AFP
