OKARA, June 20: Tenants of military farms along with hundreds of their minor children on Thursday took out a rally against the military farms administration.

Carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the administration, the protesters started their march from Jinnah Park barefooted and culminated at the local Press club after lodging their protests at offices of the district Nazim and DCO.

They also shouted slogans against the excesses of the military farms administration and demanded the withdrawal of bogus criminal cases against the tenants.

They also demanded that proceedings of murder cases of tenants Bashir Ahmed of Renala and Muhammad Tufail of Dalmin Gunj should be carried out speedily.

Speaking to the gathering, Anjuman-i-Muzaraeen secretary-general Younas Iqbal said protest rallies would continue till the acceptance of their demands.

It may be mentioned that Federal Law Minister Khalid Ranjha during his visit to Okara a week ago had directed DCO Khalid Masood to prepare a package of tenants’ demands.

CRUSHED: A motorcyclist was crushed to death by a speeding bus on the GT Road near here on Thursday.

Muhammad Waseem of Sindhi Mohallah was on his way home by his two-wheeler (OKC-6202) when the Okara-bound bus (LOK-583) knocked him down. He received serious injuries and died on the way to hospital.

Okara Saddar police have registered a case.
