MIRPURKHAS, June 20: A case of water theft were registered against eight landlords by the Samaro police on Wednesday.
Darogha of the Ran Jagir distributary of the Mithrao Canal, Mohammad Bukhsh, lodged an FIR with the Samaro police stating that during his surprise visit, he found landlords Ghulam Rasool Shah, Shamshad, Sono Meghwar, Mohammad Ashraf, Mohammad Siddiq, Khalid Ahmed Saifal and Fida Hussain Shar involved in water theft by opening their watercourses during rotation programme.
GAS BILLS: Inflated bills of the Sui Southern Gas Company, Mirpurkhas, have caused resentment and anguish among the consumers.
Talking to this correspondent, some consumers complained that they had received inflated bills of gas despite that they had been paying bills regularly.
They condemned the attitude of officers of the SSGC, Mirpurkhas, for not paying attention to this problems of the consumer.
ENCROACHMENTS: Illegal encroachments are on the rise in various areas of the town causing hardships to the citizens. Besides, traffic too remains blocked as a result of this.
It has been learnt from reliable sources that the encroachers had the backing of elected representatives, so the municipal authorities were reluctant to launch an operation against the encroachments.
Some of the encroachers were supported by political parties.
Some time back the encroachments had been removed from the main roads of the town under the supervision of the Army Monitoring Team. However, soon these encroachments could be seen again at Shahi Bazaar.
