KARACHI, June 20: A total of Rs810 million has been allocated for Karachi under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the year 2002-2003 out of total allocation of Rs3.874 billion for all 16 districts of the province.
According to sector-wise/district wise break-up of ADP, a sum of Rs292 million has been earmarked for education in Karachi District while the budget allocation for new scheme is Rs269 million.
An amount of Rs47.4 million has been allocated for the city’s health sector followed by Rs152 million for the physical, planning and housing (PPH) sector. The budget allocation for abandoned scheme in Karachi is estimated at Rs19.5 million.
For environment, a total of Rs10 million has been earmarked while the manpower and employment sector has got Rs8.9 million under the ADP.
The culture and tourism sector have been allocated a sum of Rs5.942 million out of total Rs810 million ADP allocation for Karachi. A sum of Rs3.05 million has been specified for city’s forest, wildlife and CDA sector.
The coloums of agriculture, industries, mines and mineral development, water and power, transport and communication, rural development, statistical and economic research, women development and science and technology show no ‘allocation of amount’ for Karachi under ADP for 2002-2003.
In Hyderabad, the amount for physical planning and housing has been allocated on the higher side at Rs315 million as compared to Rs152 million for Karachi followed by Dadu at Rs64 million, Sanghar Rs36 million, Nawabshah Rs19 million and Rs22 million each for Sukkur and Nausheroferoz.
Mithi has got the highest ADP allocation of Rs81 million for rural development followed by Dadu of Rs80 million as compared to Rs48 million for Thatta, Rs25 million for Badin, Rs44 million for Sanghar, Rs32 million for Nawabshah, Rs11 million for Larkana, Rs21 million for Jacobabad and Rs7 million for Sukkur and Khairpur. The allocation under ADP for Karachi’s rural development is zero.
Of total Rs3.874 billion ADP allocation, Hyderabad has got the second highest allocation of Rs432 million after Karachi followed by 240 million for Dadu, Rs231 million for Larkana, Rs208 million for Mirpurkhas, Rs200 million for Sanghar, Rs197 million for Jacobabad, Rs193 million for Badin, Rs192 million for Mithi, Rs184 million for Khairpur, Rs168 million for Nawabshah, Rs171 million for Nausheroferoz and Rs167 million for Ghotki.
A sum of Rs90 million has been earmarked for education in Badin district followed by Rs81 million for Hyderabad, Rs71 million for Thatta, Rs85 million for Sukkur, Rs49 million for Nawabshah, Rs74 million for Nausheroferoz, Rs84 million for Larkana, Rs59 million for Jacobabad, Rs35 million for Shikarpur, Rs43 million for Mithi, Rs46 million for Sanghar and Rs63 million for Mirpurkhas.
In health sector, allocation for Mithi District is second highest at Rs28 million after Karachi’s Rs47 million followed by Rs23 million for Ghotki, Rs17 million for Jacobabad, Rs13.6 million for Hyderabad and Rs12.8 million each for Khairpur and Larkana.
Mirpurkhas District has been allocated higher amount under ADP at Rs11.9 million for manpower and employment after Karachi’s Rs8.9 million, while other districts have not been allocated any amount.
Mithi and Badin turn out to be exceptional in getting allocation for women development of Rs1 million each while other 15 districts of the province have got no allocation under ADP.
