21 customs SROs go

ISLAMABAD, June 20: The government has done away with 21 customs SROs in the budget of 2002-03.

According to the notifications, the SROs deleted included:- SRO603(I)/73; SRO805(I)/84; SRO735(I)/87; SRO491(I)88; SRO492(I)/88; SRO506(I)/88; SRO604(I)91; SRO538(I)/92; SRO56(I)/93; SRO500(I)95; SRO2(I)/96; SRO400(I)/97; SRO28(I)/98; SRO236(I)/98; SRO414(I)/98; SRO962(I)/98; SRO582(I)/2000; SRO262(I)/2001; SRO437(I)/2001; SRO439(I)2001 and SRO688(I)/2001.

The total number of SROs has been reduced from 61 to 32 in the budget.

Moreover, the scope of SRO434(I) 2001, which covered 272 categories of goods has been reduced to cover 15 categories only; SRO439(I)/2001 has been transposed to tariff and it has been rescinded; SRO444(I)/2001 has been restructured by incorporating certain items from chapter 99 and a few items from SRO28(I)/98; petroleum sector related SROs have been merged in SRO367(I)/94 and preferential duty regime SROs for SAPTA and ECO have been updated to take account of HS changes and merged into one new SRO370(I)2002 issued June 15.
