KARACHI, June 18: Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure of the forthcoming season has been reshaped and the Patron’s Trophy first-class tournament has been scrapped.
Instead, the one-day tournament will be named as Patron’s Cup in which 16 teams would participate. Although the break-up was not confirmed, there was a possibility that top eight association and as many departments would take part.
The Quaid-i-Azam Trophy will be competed by 25 teams, including the 14 departments, 10 associations and a PCB team.
The season has been restructured in an effort to organize just one first-class tournament.
However, the Cricket Management Committee has yet to finalize the date for the start of the first-class season. The delay has been caused due to uncertainty revolving around Australia’s tour to Pakistan.
