ISLAMABAD, June 18: The federal government has notified a list of 378 taxpayers in the jurisdiction of the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Karachi, to be effective from July 1, 2002.
The CBR issued a notification for the purpose of central excise duty (CED) if livable on the taxpayers would fall in the Jurisdiction of LTU.
The list included 25 companies of oil and gas marketing/exploration; 17 Pakistani banks and financial institutions; 44 non-residents banks and financial institutions; 19 auto and allied companies; 11 insurance companies; 12 paper boards and packages; 11 vegetable ghee and oil mills and companies.
It also included four shipping companies; 30 pharmaceutical companies; three paints industries; 17 engineering companies; 17 chemical manufacturers and traders; six electronic and electrical companies; 11 food and allied companies; 11 hotel and restaurants; two tobacco corporation; seven power generations companies; 19 transport/cargo handling and communication, 41 miscellaneous companies.
