HYDERABAD, June 17: The syndicate members of the Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, have taken exception to a circular letter issued by the campus director in which he has stated that all the affairs of grade 1 to grade 16 employees of the university concerning their pay and allowances, pensions, discipline, and leave will be dealt by him.
In the letter, the campus director further said that the employees had been placed under his direct control but they would work under the faculties concerned, would be periodically rotated, and the director would monitor their punctuality and attendance.
The syndicate members, Prof Ameer Ali Qadri, who is also Dean, Associate Prof Suresh Kumar, Assistant Prof Liaquat Ali Kubar, and Lecturer Mujahid Hussain Leghari, in a communication addressed to the university vice chancellor said that the authority of the deans and the chairmen of the various departments was statutory and lawful and more important than the campus director who was working on contract basis.
They said that the campus director could not determine the job suitability of each and every person because he was a layman.
They said that the deans and chairmen held higher positions than the campus director.
The members of the university syndicate have requested the vice chancellor to either recall the circular in the larger interest of the university and its staff or place the circular before an appropriate forum.
SPSF (SB): The SPSF(SB) activists of the Sindh University and Mehran University, Jamshoro and Hyderabad city, staged a token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday.
They were protesting against the arrest of the former central president PPP-SB, Ali Ahmed Palepoto, and former central president Sindh People’s Youth (SB) Majeed Siyal.
Talking to newsmen they alleged that both the leaders were being detained by the police illegally and their whereabouts were unknown.
They said that the detained leaders were being tortured.
VILLAGERS PROTEST: The villagers of Dino Saand village and adjoining villages staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Monday against the SHO, Shahpur Darpur, and the in charge, police post, Dino Saand.
Talking to newsmen, they said that ever since the posting of the SHO, crime had increased in the area.
They demanded an inquiry against the SHO and the ASI.
STR-I: The general manager, Southern Telecommunication Region-I (STR-I), while responding to the complaints of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry about the alleged apathy of the PTCL has clarified that in Hyderabad multi-exchange area, there were eight telephone exchanges with an installed capacity of 70,000 out of which 60,000 were working connections.
