GUJRANWALA, June 16: A Naib Nazim of union council 74/38 on Sunday was allegedly kidnapped and beaten up by Nazim and his men for demanding development funds.

Muhammad Afzal Toor and councillors of his panel accused union council Nazim Muhammad Hafeez that he was not releasing funds for the uplift schemes in their area. The Nazim fell into a rage, kidnapped him with the help of his men, and manhandled him. He was however released on the intervention of some union council councillors. Later, the Nazim withheld all development programmes besides withdrawing sanitary workers from the area of Naib Nazim.

Police were reluctant to register a case against the Nazim while some councillors were trying to mediate between the Nazim and Naib Nazim.
