KARACHI Oct 31: A suspected drug dealer succumbed to his wounds after being hit by bullets fired by an ASI in Hijrat Colony late on Tuesday night.
Ajab Gul Khan, 36, police claimed, was engaged in his “illegal activity” when he was spotted by an ASI in Hijrat Colony.
Police said ASI Nisar tried to arrest the suspect who stabbed him in the leg and tried to escape. The police official shot at the fleeing suspect. The suspect was taken to the JPMC where he died in the morning.
Following his death, the area people placed the body of the deceased at the PIDC traffic intersection and staged a sit-in lasted for half an hour which caused traffic disruption.
The enraged protesters raised slogans against the police. Later, senior police officials reached the spot and talked to the protesters who later end their protest.
The SHO Civil Lines said that the suspect had recently completed his jail term.
The suspect was wanted in at least four drug cases by the police, he added. A case has been registered against the ASI, the SHO said.
COP SHOT DEAD: A police guard posted at the residence of an advisor to the Provincial Ombudsman was shot dead by unknown assailants in Shah Faisal Colony on Wednesday morning.
Police said Akthar Nawaz, 33, was on guard duty outside the residence of Syed Iqbal Husain Rizvi, advisor to the Provincial Ombudsman and former district and sessions judge central in Shah Faisal Colony No. 2 when two unknown assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire and escaped, seriously wounding him.
The victim was first taken to a private hospital from where he was referred to JPMC and admitted for treatment.
However, later in the evening the victim Akthar Husain expired at the hospital. The MLO said he received four bullets which pierced through his abdomen. The victim was a resident of Landhi.
