KARACHI, Oct 7: The coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has condemned firing by terrorists on Jamia Rehmania and Jamia Khalid bin Waleed.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the MQM also expressed sorrow over the death of four people in the firing.

The attack on an Imambargah in Mehmoodabad and the firing incidents in Buffer Zone were aimed at fanning the flames of sectarianism, it said, adding that some people were trying to give the impression that the Sunnis and the Shias were at loggerheads. “This is certainly not the case,” it said.

Another press release quotes MQM chief Altaf Hussain as saying that the establishment which has tried to “colonize” Sindh has always resorted to state terrorism.

Accusing the provincial administration of stopping him from speaking to intellectuals, journalists, etc in Dadu on Sunday by telephone, he said he had wanted to answer the questions put to him by the intellectuals.
