GUJRANWALA, June 12: A bailiff recovered a trader from the illegal custody of police and produced him before the district and sessions judge on Wednesday.

Amir Sohail was kept at the Sabzi Mandi police lock-up at behest of a labour councillor.

The district and sessions judge got registered an FIR against councillor Muhammad Amjad, his brother Babu Muhammad Sarwar and their bodyguard Iftikhar Pehalwan and summoned Sabzi Mandi SHO on the next date of hearing.

Family told the district and sessions judge that the councillor and his accomplices abducted Amjad Sohail from his shop. They kept him naked and in chains at their outhouse. They also tortured him. Later, the accused handed him over to Sabzi Mandi police where he was also tortured.

Syed Aftab Rizvi, Ali Nawaz, Hafiz Javed Iqbal, Shahbaz Bukhari, Riazuddin and Dilawar Butt were chosen members of the executive council.
