PESHAWAR, June 10: The people of the South Waziristan Agency and the Frontier Region Tank have vowed to help the country’s armed forces against any Indian aggression.
Speaking at a joint press conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Sunday, the notables of Mahsood, Wazir, Sulaimankhel, Dotani and Baitani tribes announced that agency’s more than 500,000 people supported the government’s stand on Kashmir.
Malik Inayatullah Khan, elder of the Mahsood tribe, said a Jirga would be held in Wana, the headquarter of the agency, on June 15 to organize an armed tribal force to assist the army in case of war with India.
He said the tribesmen were ready to defend their country till the last drop of their blood. “We are defending our western border, as the armed forces are engaged on the eastern border owing to Indian aggressive stance. We have been defending western border since the creation of the country.”
SAPLINGS PLANTED: The NWFP forest department planted 17.75 million saplings during the spring plantation season against the target of 15 million, showing a significant increase of 2.75 million saplings.
Forest Chief Conservator Ghazi Marjan said this, while talking to APP here on Sunday.
The increase in sapling plantation had become possible due to good weather conditions in the area.
