BADIN, June 9: Sindh irrigation secretary Mir Mohammad Parhiar said here on Sunday that the water inflow had increased and added that if the increase in the water flow continued, the rotation in Sindh would be stopped by the end of June.

Briefing journalists on water position, he said 15,154 cusec water flow was recorded at the Kotri Barrage on Friday as against total demand of 41,147 cusecs of water. He hoped the flow would continue to increase.

He advised the growers to start sowing crops in their lands with small areas as there was increase in water.

He said although Sindh was getting 35 per cent less water, the situation was improving.

He said the responsibility of the irrigation department was to make water available for agricultural lands within the available source and to ensure its judicious distribution to give everyone due share of water.

Answering a question, he said a fact-finding committee, led by federal information minister, had been constituted to probe into the distribution of water to the provinces and would report to the president.

Responding to another question, the secretary said the shifting of the irrigation offices to Badin was a part of the government’s plan to provide doorstep facilities to growers.
