SUKKUR, June 8: Two constables were arrested here on Saturday for allegedly injuring a labourer who refused to oblige them with illegal gratification.

Two labourers, Ghulam Rasool and Shamman, had complained to the DPO Sukkur that they were on their way to village Jafferabad after the day’s work on Friday night when the two constables, Muhammad Ali Mirani and Mushtaq Khoso, stopped him and asked for illegal gratification.

The labourers said that they refused to oblige the policemen and tried to escape but they fired shots. Ghulam Rasool sustained serious injuries but Shamman escaped unhurt, they said in their complaint.

Acting upon the complaint, the DPO ordered an immediate arrest of both the policemen.

Meanwhile, the SHO of SITE, Latif Dino, was suspended by the DPO following a robbery in which six commission agents were deprived of Rs200,000 by a gang which struck the vegetable market here on Friday night.
