KARACHI, June 8: Twenty-five vehicles — 10 cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in various parts of the city on Saturday.

Police sources said six cars were hijacked in different localities, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, PECHS, Saddar, etc. Four others were stolen by the bandits.

Seven motorbikes were hijacked in North Nazimabad Town, Saddar Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town and other areas. Eight others were stolen in different localities.

The police recovered three stolen cars and five motorcycles in various areas.

ROBBERIES: Five robberies were committed in the city on Saturday, the police said.

Bandits barged into Agha Mohammed’s house in Jamali Goth in the police limits of Gulzar-i-Hijri. Agha woke up and challenged the bandits, who opened fire on him and escaped empty-handed. Agha suffered a bullet wound to his hand. He was admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

Five bandits intercepted Mohammed Manzoor in Old city area in the police limits of Risala and robbed him of cash and belongings at gunpoint.

Four dacoits entered Zafar Iqbal’s house in Liaquatabad, held the family hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash, jewellery and other valuables.

Bandits raided the house of Daud in Korangi, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash, jewellery and other valuables.

Robbers stormed into the house of Mazhar in Model Colony, Malir, held the family hostage at gunpoint and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables.

ARRESTS: The police arrested 23 suspects in the city on Saturday for their alleged involvement in criminal activities and recovered one pistol, two rifles, three revolvers, one dagger, 154 gram charas, 20 gram heroin and stolen goods from some of them.
