Snow leopard creates scare

Published June 7, 2002

CHITRAL, June 6: The snow leopard in the Chitral Gol National Park has devoured as many as 22 goats in the nearby areas of Roondur and Bokhtooli during the last couple of days.

One of the cattle owners told this correspondent that the leopard attacked his herd periodically while grazing in a nearby pasture and killed the goats while he did not fire upon it in self-defence.

Meanwhile, because of the presence of the leopard, fear ran high in the locality and people confined themselves to their homes after sunset and heavily guarded the corrals where the livestock are housed.
