HYDERABAD, March 24: The Sindh education department has launched a scholarship scheme of Rs10 million on the basis of merit for the students of class VI.
This was announced by the provincial coordinator, bureau of curriculum and extension wing, here on Sunday.
Giving details, he said that the total number of scholarships was 2,000 which will be given to the students of class VI who had passed class V in the year 2002.
The ratio of scholarship has been fixed at 60 per cent for girls and 40 per cent for boys.
Application forms can be received from EDO, education, of concerned district.
The coordinator informed that filled in cuttings from the advertisements published in national dailies were also permissible.
Last date for submission of applications to the EDOs by students/parents has been fixed as April 12. The EDO, education, of each district, has been asked to ensure satisfactory conduct of written test at sub-divisional level.
The tests will be conducted on May 5 and the bureau will announce the results of the scholarship winners on May 27.
Announcing the procedure of the test, the provincial coordinator said that it would be conducted in English (20 marks), science (20 marks), mathematics (25 marks) social studies (17 marks) and mother tongue subjects, Urdu/Sindhi, (18 marks) at class V level.
