PESHAWAR, June 5: Some residents of Palosi attacked five employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (Pesco) over the disconnections of electricity in the area.
According to a Pesco press release issued on Tuesday, the power supply department staff of Warsak-II was clearing a fault in the transformer when some 150 persons assembled by Union Council Nazim Pir Khuda, Naib Nazim Naik Akhtar and Councillor Jehangir attacked them on Monday. Lineman Superintendent Gul Mast, Lineman Zamarud, Lineman Shamim and assistant linemen Mohammad Israel and Inayat Shah were injured in the attack.
The mob also pushed the Pesco vehicle to the nearby Behwalnal canal and damaged it badly.
The press release stated that there was 81 per cent power pilferage in the Palosi locality and the residents were infuriated allegedly when the inspection team visited the area some time back. Warsak-II SDO Omar Ahmad has lodged a case with Eastern Police Station.
