KARACHI, March 19: Seven ships including a rice loader and container vessels and a tanker to load molasses are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday.

According to KPT sources ship movements at the wharves was fairly active as about a dozen ships were berthed and sailed out during the last 24 hours.

The ships, which were berthed included Swat, Conti Cortagena, Med Tai Chung, to unload and load containers, Emden to offload vehicles, Multan, CEC Meadow and Anshan Jaing to offload and load general cargo.

Four ships, Global Progress, Bunga Masempat, Ernst Rickmer and Golden Gate departed, while Med Tai Chung, Conti Cartagena, Yapi, and Wan Hai-232, are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity was relatively slow as the total tonnage fell to 49,979 tons comprising 24,183 tons of export cargo and 25,796 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: PONL Pemba, Julius Oldendrof and Leixoes to unload and load containers, Bow Favour to load molasses, Adoudon Discovery to offload crude oil, Haian Cheng to offload general cargo and Hyderabad to load 15,000 tons of rice.
