ISLAMABAD, March 14: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Shehzada has called upon the PTCL to utilize all available resources to provide optimum telecommunication connectivity to the people as part of objective realization of the government’s policy.
He was presiding over a meeting, attended by PTA officials, the PTCL chairman and senior management of the company, at the PTA headquarters here on Wednesday.
The PTA chief said the Pakis-tan Telecommunication, being the incumbent operator, should provide maximum new connections not only in the urban areas but also in the remotest areas of the country to meet the rising demands of the people.
He directed the PTCL to promptly respond to the complaints of its consumers and take effective measures for their immediate redressal. He advised the company to properly train its staff so that they extended courtesy to the complainants in keeping with the customers’ code of ethics.
The PTA chairman stressed the need for greater harmony and interaction between PTV and the PTCL in view of the ongoing deregulation process and abolition of the PTCL exclusivity in basic telephony services by December this year.
