MUZAFFARABAD, March 6: The Mutahidda Jihad Council, an alliance of the Kashmiri Mujahideen groups, on Wednesday said the recent anti-Muslim riots had further strengthened their resolve to rid the Kashmiris of New Delhi’s illegal rule.

“The carnage of Muslims in (Indian state of) Gujarat by the Hindu fanatics, carried out with the full backing of the government and security forces, has strengthened our determination to overthrow occupation of Kashmir by India. We will accelerate and intensify our efforts to achieve the goal of freedom as early as possible,” said MJC chief Syed Salahuddin in a statement.

He said the worst terrorism against the Indian Muslims had, in a way, fortified the Kashmiris, making them more determined to carry on the noble struggle (for freedom) regardless of the magnitude of Indian repression.

“Not only the Muslims but also all other minorities across India are being subjected to violence and terror since long at the hands of Hindu zealots under a well-conceived official policy.”
