SADIQABAD, Feb 20: At least 30 schools in Ahmadpur Lamma Centre are without 60 teachers due to the retirement of the old ones and ban on recruitment.
According to details, the centre consists of primary and elementary schools having more than 200 sanctioned posts. Of those, 40 are for PTC while 32 for English teachers.
In some of the schools, there is one teacher for a class of 100.
The standard of education is on the decline and parents have been forced to get their children admitted to private schools.
Bahawalpur Teachers’ Association leader Chaudhry Shakeel Ahmad has urged the Punjab governor to recruit 20,000 teachers to fill the vacancies and elevating the standard of education.
COUNCILLORS: The local veterinary hospital should be shifted outside the city and the present location be converted into a recreational park.
This was demanded by councillors Hafizul Haq and Hafiz Farooq Ahmad in a joint statement here on Wednesday.
