MARDAN, Jan 28: Majority of political leaders in the NWFP cannot contest general election after the condition that only graduates would be allowed to take part in provincial and national assemblies polls.

The candidates who were disqualified mostly belonged to Mardan district.

Their names are: central secretary general of the Muslim League Saranjam Khan; former MNA Haji Yaqoob, Sarfraz Khan; former federal parliamentary secretary PPP, Haji Khanzada Khan; former MPAs Mohammad Akram and Bahadur Khan, central secretary of NAP, Muazzam Khan Hoti and president of the Muslim League, Mardan City, Haji Hamayun Khan.

The leaders disqualified from other parts of the province include: Jan Mohammad Khattak of Noshehra, Alhaj Muhammad Hashim of Charsadda, Begum Nasim Wali Khan, Iftikharuddin Khattak, Ghaniur Rehman of Hungo and Khursheed Azam, Abottabad.—PPI.
