HYDERABAD, Jan 26: Several women and children under the banner of the Mothers Action Committee held a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Saturday to protest against the inhuman atrocities towards prisoners by the central jail superintendent, Altaf Awan, and the deputy superintendent, Eijaz Haider.

The protesters were led by the PPP women wing leaders, Advocate Ms Nuzhat Pathan and Zaib-un-Nissa Dahari.

Talking to newsmen, they alleged that the prisoners confined in the central jail, Hyderabad, were being subjected to sodomy by the jail staff and its blue-eyed prisoners, and added that they had become mental and physical wrecks as a result of this.

They said that on the one hand the prisoners were being subjected to torture, and on the other hand false cases of attempted suicide were being registered against them.
