Proposals for budget discussed

ISLAMABAD, April 29: A high level meeting, with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the chair, was held at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday to review various proposals for the next financial year’s budget. The meeting considered ways and means for increasing revenue, expanding development programmes and reducing expenditures.

Those who attended the meeting included Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sikandar Hayat, Minister for Industries and Production Jahangir Khan Tareen, Minister for Privatization Dr Hafeez Sheikh, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Aman Ullah Khan Jadoon, Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema, Adviser to PM on Finance Salman Shah, Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub and SBP Governor Ishrat Hussain.—APP
