KARACHI, Jan 29: The Pakistan People's Party has opposed the government's plan of establishing cantonment at Sui as well as the use of force against Baloch people and vowed to confront the alleged state terrorism and conspiracies hatched to undermine the empowerment of people at all levels.

This was stated by the leader of opposition in senate and deputy secretary general of the party, Mian Raza Rabbani, while addressing a gathering of Awam Dost nazims, naib nazims and councillors on KMC lawns on Saturday. He reiterated the views later in Ghazi Goth, Malir, while addressing party activists.

The government's refusal to implement the NFC award, its policies on Kalabagh and equitable sharing of resources with smaller provinces, deteriorating law and order situation and attempts to terrorise and target those elected to the local body with the support of opposition parties were the main issued he discussed in both gatherings.

Declaring that the PPP would not be cowed down by strong arm and terrorist tactics of the state, he warned that such polices would further undermine the federation. He said that owing to government policies the federation was already under pressure.

Raza Rabbani said that when Gen Musharraf had usurped power he had promised to foster inter-provincial harmony. But the ground reality was to the contrary and the people of Balochistan and other smaller provinces were still deprived of their rights, both political and economic. He stressed the need for a talks with Baloch people.
